Angela Suraci is the Mission Valley Chorus Master Director. This status is awarded by Sweet Adelines International to directors of choruses who have achieved over 600 points in the annual regional competition.
Angela has taken MVC to a memorable performance at New York City's Carnegie Hall in 2008, and to two Sweet Adeline Region 12 Championships in 2011 and 2013. In 2012 she took the chorus to the Sweet Adeline International Competition in Denver, where the chorus sang in the semi-final round, and placed 18th in the world. And in 2015, in association with Music Celebrations International, Angela took us to Ireland where we performed at three venues in Killarney, Waterford, and Dublin.
Angela joined Sweet Adelines International in 1998 and quickly took on the role of Assistant Director and Lead Section Leader in her chorus. Her barbershop history started years before as her mother, Carol, was a member since 1965 until her death in January 2014.
Angela's lifelong passion is music—singing in high school, college, and professional choirs as well as pursuing a career in opera. She is a private voice instructor and coaches quartets and choruses in Region 12 and beyond. She has also competed in several Region 12 quartets. Angela was born in Castro Valley, California, where her father resides. She lived in San Francisco for 34 years, but has recently relocated to the East Bay.
